{"id":393,"date":"2024-03-20T07:55:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T12:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canacom.org\/?p=393"},"modified":"2024-04-08T23:48:30","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T04:48:30","slug":"the-presbyterian-church-of-trinidad-and-tobago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canacom.org\/?p=393","title":{"rendered":"The\u00a0Presbyterian\u00a0Church\u00a0of\u00a0Trinidad\u00a0and\u00a0Tobago\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Celebrations&nbsp;and&nbsp;Activities&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;period&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>May<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;2023&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>&#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>March&nbsp;2024<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Presbyterian&nbsp;Church&nbsp;of&nbsp;Trinidad&nbsp;and&nbsp;Tobago&nbsp;(The&nbsp;PCTT)&nbsp;after&nbsp;celebrating&nbsp;its&nbsp;155<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anniversary&nbsp;in&nbsp;January&nbsp;of&nbsp;2023,&nbsp;hosted&nbsp;its&nbsp;installation&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;new&nbsp;Moderator&nbsp;The&nbsp;Right&nbsp;Reverend&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daniel&nbsp;Chance&nbsp;in&nbsp;May&nbsp;(28<sup>th<\/sup>,2023)&nbsp;after&nbsp;his&nbsp;appointment&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;63<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;Annual&nbsp;General&nbsp;Meeting&nbsp;of&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Synod&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;PCTT.&nbsp;The&nbsp;Rt.&nbsp;Rev.&nbsp;Chance&nbsp;is&nbsp;the&nbsp;15<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;Moderator&nbsp;of&nbsp;Synod&nbsp;and&nbsp;will&nbsp;serve&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;next&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2&nbsp;years&nbsp;(April&nbsp;2023&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;April&nbsp;2025).&nbsp;&nbsp;As&nbsp;the&nbsp;PCTT&nbsp;commenced&nbsp;their&nbsp;Synodical&nbsp;Term&nbsp;for&nbsp;2023&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;2025&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>many&nbsp;changes&nbsp;in&nbsp;leadership&nbsp;and&nbsp;representation&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;various&nbsp;standing&nbsp;Boards&nbsp;and&nbsp;Committees&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of&nbsp;The&nbsp;PCTT&nbsp;was&nbsp;observed.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;Friday&nbsp;3rd&nbsp;February&nbsp;2023,&nbsp;St.&nbsp;Andrew&#8217;s&nbsp;Theological&nbsp;College&nbsp;celebrated&nbsp;its&nbsp;rich&nbsp;history&nbsp;at&nbsp;its&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>131st&nbsp;Anniversary&nbsp;Service&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;College\u2019s&nbsp;Chapel.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our&nbsp;esteemed&nbsp;Reverend&nbsp;Adrian&nbsp;D.E.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sieunarine\u00a0and\u00a0the Principal\u00a0of\u00a0S.A.T.C.\u00a0led\u00a0in\u00a0worship.\u00a0\u00a0Both\u00a0past\u00a0and\u00a0current,\u00a0members\u00a0of\u00a0Synod,\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>members&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Board,&nbsp;joined&nbsp;in&nbsp;worship,&nbsp;thanking&nbsp;God&nbsp;for&nbsp;his&nbsp;faithfulness&nbsp;and&nbsp;love.&nbsp;We&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>continue&nbsp;to&nbsp;pray&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;college,&nbsp;so&nbsp;that&nbsp;it&nbsp;may&nbsp;continue&nbsp;its&nbsp;mission&nbsp;to&nbsp;inspire&nbsp;and&nbsp;fulfil&nbsp;the&nbsp;call&nbsp;to&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>spiritual&nbsp;enlightenment,&nbsp;empowerment,&nbsp;engagement&nbsp;and&nbsp;edification.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pctt.org.tt\/\">The\u00a0Presbyterian\u00a0Church\u00a0of\u00a0Trinidad\u00a0and\u00a0Tobago<\/a>\u00a0(PCTT)\u00a0congratulated\u00a0Her\u00a0Excellency\u00a0Christine\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carla&nbsp;Kangaloo&nbsp;on&nbsp;her&nbsp;appointment&nbsp;as&nbsp;the&nbsp;7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;President&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Republic&nbsp;of&nbsp;Trinidad&nbsp;and&nbsp;Tobago.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Becoming&nbsp;the&nbsp;second&nbsp;female&nbsp;President&nbsp;certainly&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;milestone&nbsp;for&nbsp;women&nbsp;and&nbsp;speaks&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>fortitude&nbsp;and&nbsp;competence&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;women&nbsp;of&nbsp;this&nbsp;twin-island&nbsp;state.&nbsp;The&nbsp;PCTT&nbsp;is&nbsp;extremely&nbsp;proud&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and&nbsp;delighted&nbsp;especially&nbsp;since&nbsp;Her&nbsp;Excellency&nbsp;received&nbsp;her&nbsp;foundation&nbsp;at&nbsp;one&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;primary&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>schools,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Grant&nbsp;Memorial&nbsp;Presbyterian&nbsp;Primary&nbsp;School&nbsp;and&nbsp;is&nbsp;also&nbsp;a&nbsp;member&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Susamachar&nbsp;Presbyterian&nbsp;Church.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At&nbsp;the&nbsp;155th&nbsp;Anniversary&nbsp;Service&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;PCTT&nbsp;in&nbsp;January&nbsp;of&nbsp;this&nbsp;year&nbsp;2023&nbsp;but&nbsp;even&nbsp;before&nbsp;that,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>there&nbsp;was&nbsp;a&nbsp;listed&nbsp;project&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;150th&nbsp;Anniversary&nbsp;Committee&nbsp;back&nbsp;in&nbsp;2017&nbsp;under&nbsp;the&nbsp;then&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moderator&nbsp;The&nbsp;Rt.&nbsp;Rev.&nbsp;Annabell&nbsp;Lalla-Ramkelawan&nbsp;which&nbsp;continued&nbsp;in&nbsp;earnest&nbsp;by&nbsp;Rev.&nbsp;Joy&nbsp;Abdul-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mohan&nbsp;and&nbsp;completed&nbsp;under&nbsp;The&nbsp;Rt.&nbsp;Rev.&nbsp;Daniel&nbsp;Chance.&nbsp;&nbsp;On&nbsp;December&nbsp;8<sup>th<\/sup>,&nbsp;2023&nbsp;we&nbsp;were&nbsp;able&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>to&nbsp;collectively&nbsp;celebrate&nbsp;the&nbsp;start&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;distribution&nbsp;and&nbsp;sale&nbsp;of&nbsp;an&nbsp;important&nbsp;publication&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>life&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Church&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;the&nbsp;Presbyterian&nbsp;Church&nbsp;of&nbsp;Trinidad&nbsp;and&nbsp;Tobago&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;\u201cAn&nbsp;Odyssey&nbsp;of&nbsp;Faith\u201d.&nbsp;As&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>we&nbsp;would&nbsp;recall,&nbsp;this&nbsp;book&nbsp;was&nbsp;officially&nbsp;launched&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;St.&nbsp;Andrew\u2019s&nbsp;Theological&nbsp;Chapel&nbsp;(SATC).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;a&nbsp;powerful&nbsp;sermon&nbsp;commemorating&nbsp;the&nbsp;156th&nbsp;anniversary&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;Presbyterian&nbsp;Church&nbsp;in&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trinidad&nbsp;and&nbsp;Tobago&nbsp;on&nbsp;January&nbsp;6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;Reverend&nbsp;Daniel&nbsp;Teelucksingh&nbsp;addressed&nbsp;both&nbsp;the&nbsp;rich&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>history&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;pressing&nbsp;challenges&nbsp;facing&nbsp;the&nbsp;church&nbsp;and&nbsp;society.&nbsp;&nbsp;Reverend&nbsp;Teelucksingh&nbsp;who&nbsp;is&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>a&nbsp;retired&nbsp;Minister&nbsp;of&nbsp;The&nbsp;PCTT&nbsp;and&nbsp;former&nbsp;independent&nbsp;Minister&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;parliament&nbsp;of&nbsp;Trinidad&nbsp;&amp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tobago&nbsp;delivered&nbsp;a&nbsp;message&nbsp;&nbsp;acknowledging&nbsp;the&nbsp;church&#8217;s&nbsp;historical&nbsp;achievements,&nbsp;he&nbsp;called&nbsp;for&nbsp;a&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>renewal&nbsp;of&nbsp;purpose,&nbsp;emphasizing&nbsp;the&nbsp;need&nbsp;to&nbsp;break&nbsp;away&nbsp;from&nbsp;past&nbsp;successes&nbsp;and&nbsp;move&nbsp;forward&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>with&nbsp;a&nbsp;clear&nbsp;vision.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;sermon&nbsp;reflected&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;criticisms&nbsp;faced&nbsp;by&nbsp;the&nbsp;church&nbsp;but&nbsp;highlighted&nbsp;its&nbsp;resilience&nbsp;over&nbsp;the&nbsp;<canvas><\/canvas><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>years.&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;challenges&nbsp;confronting&nbsp;the&nbsp;church,&nbsp;including&nbsp;declining&nbsp;attendance&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;lukewarm&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>spirit,&nbsp;were&nbsp;candidly&nbsp;addressed.&nbsp;&nbsp;A&nbsp;call&nbsp;for&nbsp;recommitment&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;renewal&nbsp;of&nbsp;faith&nbsp;was&nbsp;emphasized,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>framing&nbsp;the&nbsp;church&#8217;s&nbsp;mission&nbsp;as&nbsp;an&nbsp;ongoing&nbsp;responsibility&nbsp;beyond&nbsp;celebrating&nbsp;past&nbsp;achievements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;final&nbsp;message&nbsp;emphasized&nbsp;the&nbsp;church&#8217;s&nbsp;role&nbsp;as&nbsp;a&nbsp;beacon&nbsp;of&nbsp;light&nbsp;and&nbsp;salt&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;world,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>encouraging&nbsp;active&nbsp;participation&nbsp;from&nbsp;all&nbsp;members&nbsp;to&nbsp;contribute&nbsp;to&nbsp;societal&nbsp;well-being&nbsp;and&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>spiritual&nbsp;renewal.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;conclusion,&nbsp;the&nbsp;sermon&nbsp;served&nbsp;
