His presentation will provide an opportunity to consider how communities can better understand and prepare for emerging health risks.

Dr. Elizabeth December Singh

Medical Doctor and Faith Leader

Dr. December Singh will examine the important connection between human wellbeing, compassionate care, faith, hope, and community response in a changing world.

Her contribution will highlight the role of compassion and faith in helping individuals and communities respond constructively to difficult circumstances while maintaining hope for the future.

Faith, Climate Change and Health

Climate change is not only an environmental concern. It has implications for physical health, mental and emotional wellbeing, food security, livelihoods, communities, and social resilience.

For communities across the Caribbean, these challenges can be particularly significant. Building healthier and more resilient communities requires collaboration across disciplines and sectors.

The Called to Cultivate seminar invites participants to consider what it means to move beyond simply responding to environmental challenges and instead become guardians of creation and advocates for human wellbeing.

The conversation also provides an opportunity for people of faith to reflect on their responsibility to care for creation, serve their communities, and promote hope in the face of change.

Join the Conversation

The seminar will take place online via Zoom on August 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM Bogotá Time (GMT-5).

Participants are encouraged to register through Zoom to view the event time in their respective locations.

Zoom Meeting ID: 884 2794 1307
Passcode: 719678

A QR code for registration is also available on the event flyer.

A Regional and International Conversation

The seminar is being presented in partnership with EarthMedic & EarthNurse, the University of Michigan School of Public Health – Department of Environmental Health Sciences, and Improving our Serve.

Participants from several countries across the Caribbean and beyond are expected to join the conversation, reflecting the international importance of climate change, health, faith, and community resilience.

From Gardeners to Guardians

The From Gardeners to Guardians series challenges participants to think about creation not simply as something to appreciate, but as something entrusted to our care.

Being called to cultivate means cultivating more than gardens. It means cultivating healthy communities, responsible relationships with the environment, compassion for others, resilience, and hope.

As climate and health challenges continue to evolve, the call is clear: we must work together to protect creation and promote the wellbeing of present and future generations.

Save the Date

Thursday, August 20, 2026
6:00 PM Bogotá Time (GMT-5)
Online via Zoom

Join Dr. James Hospedales, Dr. Kirk Douglas, and Dr. Elizabeth December Singh for an important conversation on faith, climate change, health, and hope.

Come and be part of the conversation as we move from gardeners to guardians—cultivating human health and hope in a changing world.

Faith, Climate Change and Health — Creation Day 6 As the world continues to experience the effects of climate change, the connections between environmental sustainability, human health, faith, and community resilience have never been more important.
