“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)
It’s easy to think that our lives are based on what we’re choosing. We all have our own free will to make decisions to do what we want. To a point, it’s true that we determine the course of our lives, but that’s not the only factor. God has a conditional will—things He does based on whether or not we make good choices, how we perform, and how disciplined we are. But He also has a sovereign will—things He does regardless of our decisions. God has already planned ahead of time a purpose for you to fulfil.
Just ask the prophet Jonah. He did exactly the opposite of what God told him to do and was thrown overboard into the sea. God didn’t say, “Too bad. You’re on your own. You’re out of My will.” God had a big fish waiting to swallow him and take him to the shore, as though He called an Uber. God was saying, “Jonah, My sovereign will is that you go and speak what I say to the people of Nineveh.”
Father, thank You for Your promise that You will work out Your plans for my life according to Your will. Thank You that I can stay in peace knowing that You are working behind the scenes and directing the outcomes. Help me to be patient and know that You are bringing me into my purpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Peace and Justice What is peace? What is justice? How do we obtain peace, how do we obtain justice? Exploring our context 2. We look at a picture -What do you see? What is it? They believed that they were forbidden to do so in the Ten Commandments. But they did make symbols as an aid to remembering or explaining the text of the Bible. Bible Study at CANACOM’s Assembly When I answered the call to ministry, one of the things I said to the Lord was, “Please do not let me go before your people with words. I want every time I stand before your people to speak, the words will be your words, not mine” Many times, I have proven that just before it’s my time to speak, I would hear aspects of what I have been led to say, being said by others, sometimes it’s in a song. This time is no different; yesterday, Dr. James Hospedales, Rev. Dr. Brenda Harewood, and Mrs. Janet McConell all had pockets of my presentation in theirs. I usually see it as a confirmation of what the Lord is saying to His people. And I pray that today I will be able to carry God’s message with clarity. In this first Bible study on Lament, rethink our Sunday School theology as we reimagine God’s creation that groans in the face of broken relationships and environmental degradation. In Romans 8: 18-22, we read: I consider that the present sufferings
